Phototheca is built with a variety of screen resolutions in mind. Users of Phototheca have a wide range of displays, from entry-level 1366×768 screens, through Microsoft Surface tablets, and up to professional ultra-high-definition (UHD), 4K-wide gamut displays. And Phototheca supports them all with maximum efficiency.
Dual monitor mode
If you have two displays, Phototheca can utilize a second screen as a view area for a selected photo. If a second display is connected, there is a button on the bottom panel at the right side that expands Phototheca on the second screen.
Full Screen
Phototheca has a full-screen mode that changes the interface and gives users more space for content. Full-screen mode is activated with a button on the bottom panel at the right.
Thumbnails
Each photo or video in Phototheca is represented with a thumbnail. The thumbnail is created during the import process and is stored in the special thumbnails cache file for instant access. Phototheca can simply access thumbnails from the cache and bring them to the screen with zero delay, meaning you will never see thumbnails slowly appear on a screen, one by one, when you scroll to somewhere or open an Event or Album.
Thumbnails layout density
There is another useful option that we can adjust on thumbnails view: the density of the thumbnails. This option controls the horizontal spacing between thumbnails. It allows you to change the padding around thumbnails, making them either take more space around them or stick closer to one another.
Toolbar
Phototheca has a toolbar that contains buttons with relevant actions to the current context. Visibility of the toolbar can be changed with the following button:
Filmstrip
When in single photo viewing mode, a filmstrip is placed at the bottom of the central view area. This filmstrip helps to navigate between photos of a current group (Event, Album, search results, etc.), staying in the context without having to switch back to the thumbnails view.
Keywords Panel
The Keywords panel in Phototheca provides tools to view and edit photo keywords (tags).
Info panel
This panel shows various information about photos and videos – description, shot timestamp, ratings, assigned keywords (tags), and JPEG EXIF metadata. Visibility of the panel is controlled by the following button:
Folders content switch
This option controls how you can see and browse the content of Albums and Folders.
Appearance options
Phototheca has several appearance options that help to adjust the look and feel of the interface to your personal taste and preference. They are located on the page Appearance of the Settings dialog.
Touch interface
Phototheca can switch to touch mode with a different UI, tailored to work on touch screens and tablets controlled with fingers.
