Places and Geotagging
The metadata section of digital photo files is not only capable of storing tags, keywords, camera and lens details, and shooting conditions. It is also can store a location of a photo. Such location data opens a lot of new ways to search for images, organize photos and browse. This section of the User Manual explains all features that Phototheca has to work with photo location data.
View geo-tagged photos
Phototheca has a few options for browsing and viewing photos based on their location data.
View location data
If a photo is geo-tagged with GPS or IPTC data(or both), a small white pushpin icon appears on the top-right corner of a thumbnail. See the picture below. On the Info Panel, you can see GPS and IPTC data correspondingly.
Adding location data
To add location data to a photo or a group of pictures, select one or several images and click the “Assign a Location” button on the Info Panel:
Editing location data
To edit location data for a single photo, select a photo and click the button with the marker icon in the left-bottom corner of the minimap:
Deleting location data
To reset location data for a photo or a group of pictures within the Phototheca library, select one or several images and go to the context menu Places-\> Remove Locations
Search based on locations data
You can quickly find photos of a specific location with the Search bar. Start typing the name of a location, and Phototheca will suggest a few appropriate options:
