See <a href=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/import-from-phones-tablets\/\">Import photos from a phone.<\/a> <br><\/li><li>From cameras or removable media: Connect a camera, or flash card and import photos and videos from the device. See <a href=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/import-from-memory-cards-removable-media\/\">Import photos from a removable media.<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>From storage media: Import photos or videos saved on a hard disk or other storage device. <a href=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/import-photos-from-storage-devices\/\">See Import photos from storage devices.<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>From network-attached storage(NAS) and network shares. See <a href=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/import-from-network-shares\/\">Import photos from network shares.<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Links\/copies, or &nbsp;local storage?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you import photos into Phototheca there are two possible scenarios:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Scenario 1: Phototheca does not copy photos and makes references only<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When photos are being imported from a local hard drive, Phototheca never\ncopies a photo; instead, photos continue to reside where they are. Phototheca\nremembers their locations and builds thumbnails only. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When photos are being imported from a network share or a network drive, the\noption \u201cDo not copy photos from network shares\u201d controls whether Phototheca copies\nphotos to a local drive or not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s often the case that there is no need to copy images from a network\nshare; for instance, if you have a server in an organization or home network-attached\nstorage (NAS) with images, then you definitely don\u2019t want to copy photos to a\nlocal drive. In rare cases when you do need to copy, this option lets you do\nso. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Scenario 2: Phototheca copies photos to a local drive<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When photos are being imported from a removable media drive such as a\nmemory card, a flash drive (USB stick), or a smartphone\/tablet, Phototheca will\ncopy those images and videos to a local drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where would Phototheca copy photos from removable media? The software copies\nthem to a folder called \u201cLocal Photos Store.\u201d From the very beginning, the\nlocation of this folder is <em>undefined<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first time you try to import photos from a removable drive, Phototheca\nwill show a dialog asking for the location of this folder. In other words, you must\npoint to a folder on a local drive, and this is where all further images from\nremovable drives will be copied in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/03_Import_02_LocalStore.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-628\" width=\"513\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/03_Import_02_LocalStore.png 513w, https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/03_Import_02_LocalStore-300x113.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s possible to check the current location of \u201cLocal Photo Store\u201d from the <a href=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/phototheca-library-overview\/\">Manage Library<\/a> dialog and change it there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is the option \u201cDo not copy photos from removable drive\u201d that would\nprevent Phototheca from copying images to a local drive.
