This may be useful if you want to import a folder with images from the web that may have many small images that have no value. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Do not copy existing photos from memory cards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When this option is set to On, Phototheca won\u2019t copy images from removable\ndrives that were imported earlier, and will not create multiple duplicates that\nwaste space on disks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phototheca keeps track of all removable media by their serial numbers, so\nthere is no confusion even if photos have the same filenames but originate from\ndifferent memory cards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Do not copy photos from network shares<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When this option is set to On, Phototheca won\u2019t copy photos from network shares or NAS; instead, it will just remember their locations and build thumbnails. Generally, this behavior is exactly what is needed. If for any reason you would like to copy photos from a NAS to a local drive, turn this option off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Do not copy photos from removable drives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When this option is set to On, Phototheca won\u2019t copy photos from memory\ncards or smartphones; instead, it will just remember their locations and build\nthumbnails. Usually, you want to copy photos from removable media so would keep\nthis option off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Do not create new Events, but use existing when finding new photos in known folders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have the auto-tracking feature set to On (<a href=\"https:\/\/lunarship.com\/manual\/track-for-new-images\/\">Track for new images<\/a>) then Phototheca automatically imports all new photos silently. This option regulates if you create a new Event every time when new photos are detected or add them to an existing Event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s say you have a folder called \u201cVacation 2019\u201d that was imported as a\nsingle Event, \u201cVacation 2019.\u201d If new photos are added to this folder and\nauto-tracking is on, Phototheca can either add them to an existing Event or\ncreate a new Event \u2014 that\u2019s what is being controlled by this option. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are several options that control how Phototheca imports photos and applies logic to the task.
