What is the difference between Event, Album, Smart Album, and Live Album?

  • An Event is a collection of photos that takes a period in time when it happened and has a date of start and date of the end. For instance, photos of a birthday party or a vacation. An Event can be displayed on the Timeline.
  • An Album – is a collection of photos that has no time frame. You can collect photos of your pet from different events and put these photos into a single Album. With an Album you are able to view them all in one place in case you don’t care when those photos were taken.
  • A Smart Album – it’s an album that is populated by Phototheca automatically basing on specified criteria. Such an album cannot be edited manually. Let’s say you want to have all photos are made by a specific camera in a single album – you create a Smart Album with criteria “Camera model” or you want to have all photos are made during last year in a separate album – you create a Smart Album with a specified date range. • A Live Album can be used when you need to monitor the content of some folders on your disk or network share and want photos from those folders to appear in Phototheca automatically as they appear in those folders.
